Saffron is planted in most of Iran’s provinces. 80% of the country’s output comes from Razavi Khorasan Province. The latter has 80,000 hectares of saffron fields. About 200,000 families are involved in saffron production in Iran.
Every Iranian uses less than 1 grams of saffron per year.
